Growing up playing all sorts of sports and loving the outdoors gave me a huge passion for health and fitness. Through my previous places of work i would often find my self counting down the hours of the day so I could get to the gym and train. Now more than ever i understand the old saying “health is wealth”, being an active father of four i am grateful for my health and fitness and being able to enjoy the time with my kids. I love to help clients gain full body fitness and confidence to be able to attack anything that life throws at them. “fit for life” is a moto ill always live by and preach.

I first got involved in health and fitness due to being the chubby kid all through school. Which then drastically changed to becoming stuck in my ways not only physically but mentally. Once accepting I was unhealthy I had to development a stronger mind set to better myself and become the person I am today. Going through a lot of mental and physical change and overcoming plenty of obstacles I have found a lot of true happiness and self-growth which I believe is what each and every one of us should strive for. My goal as a trainer is to help you feel the way I do today.

My interest into fitness and nutrition stemmed from my involvement in Tae Kwon Do. Competing at the highest level, I quickly learned how to eat and train to get the best out of my body. My training now consists of Crossfit & functional training which reflects in how I train others. At a young age I had issues with my body as I was always a bigger girl – It wasn’t until I started Muaythai at the age of 15 that I had learnt that when you thoroughly enjoy the way you workout results will come. As I enjoyed this process I had begun to fight in the ring, take muaythai classes at all girls’ schools and continued my journey in educating myself more. It happened to lead to me here at Evolve! Hey I’m Matty G I’ve been in and around the game long enough to have leant the ins and outs of getting weight on a barbell in the most safe and efficient way. I love weight training and coaching the big power lifts and do my best to get my knowledge across to the lifters so they get a better understanding of what and why they are doing and moving. I’ve represented NZ in the Paralympics for Bench press racking up a few medals along the way and a NZ record. Talk to me if you want to get strong!

My name is Mereana, some people call me Nani. I grew up in a small rural community on the East Coast surrounded by my culture. From a young age I have always been passionate about sports & fitness, mostly because of the positive effects it had on my body and my mental well-being. I view health and wellness from a holistic point of view. Incorporating Te Whare Tapa Wha (The four cornerstones of Health) into my everyday thinking and activity.
